Clear a paper jam

When paper jams, the control panel shows where it is and how to reach it. Follow the animation on the screen, and use these steps as a guide.

Steps

1. Look at the screen to see where the jam is.
2. Open the cover or drawer the screen points to.
3. Gently pull the jammed paper out with both hands, in the direction the paper travels, so it doesn’t tear.
4. Check that no torn pieces are left behind.
5. Close all covers and drawers. The device resumes or asks you to restart the job.

Be careful

• Parts near the fixing unit can be very hot. Don’t touch areas with a heat warning label.
• Don’t pull hard or use tools. If the paper won’t come out, stop and call us.

Prevent the next jam

• Fan the paper before loading it, and don’t fill drawers past the limit mark.
• Slide the paper guides snug against the stack.
• Make sure the paper size and type in the drawer match the drawer settings.
• Store paper flat, in its wrapper, in a dry place.
• If jams keep happening in the same spot, place a service call.
